How to properly mask?

Video 1 Video 2 Video 3

Working with masking in Photoshop is all about control and precision. Start by using a layer mask instead of erasing, so you can hide or reveal parts of a photo non-destructively. Use a soft brush with varying opacity to blend edges smoothly, and switch between black and white on the mask to hide or reveal areas. Zoom in for detailed areas, and use refine edge or select and mask tools for tricky subjects like hair or fur. Organizing your layers and using masks thoughtfully allows you to experiment freely without permanently altering your original image.
